A guide to skiing in France
Perfect slopes, perfect properties.
The French Alps offer some truly remarkable ski areas. The Absolutely Snow ‘Staff’ have been fortunate enough to ski many of the ski areas in the French Alps and have brought together resorts and ski areas that we believe offer a unique holiday experience.
The 3 Vallees is reputed to be the largest ski area in the World. The World class resorts of Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Meribel and Courcheval make up this fabulous ski area of 600kms of marked piste and 180 ski lifts. While in the third valley Les Bettex is actually in the heart of the ski area – the third valley has 300kms of piste and 64 lifts with access to the highest skiing in the area.
Morzine is a traditional Alpine market town slap bang in the middle of the Portes du Soleil. The 3 Vallees and The Portes du Soleil vie to be the largest ski area in the World, a truce has been called and The Portes du Soleil refers to itself as the Largest International Ski Area in the World! The area has 650kms of marked piste and 184 ski lifts. Portes du Soleil is only a one hour transfer from Geneva.

Spoilt for choice in Saint Gervais, a week is barely enough time to ski the entire Evasion Mont-Blanc area (3rd largest domain in France) and its 445 kilometres of tree-lined slopes. The Evasion Mont-Blanc domain boasts 219 slopes, 107 ski lifts and 650 artificial snow makers. This vast playground offers 2 snow parks for freestyle fanatics and a great choice of off-piste on Mont Joly or towards Saint-Nicolas.
What about snow? There's more than enough! Great terrain and a good exposure compensate the lack in altitude.

Tignes lies at the top of the Tarentaise valley and is made up of five hamlets, Tignes les Breviere, Tignes le Bois, Tignes le Lavacet, Tignes le Lac and Tignes Val Claret. The ski area is linked with Val d Isere to form the famous Espace Killy ski area. The Ski area provides for skiers of all abilities, with some 350km of marked pistes, glacier skiing, and numerous bowls and untracked areas for the off piste lovers. It really is an area that you can return to each year and find new areas to ski.
